Jason Travis : Madonna Inn

Some projects begin with ideas, others with a feeling. This one began with a 1960s postcard Jason Travis found of the Madonna Inn by America’s Postcard King Mike Roberts. The image felt both familiar and dreamlike, so Jason held onto it. When the moment was right he returned to the same room with his pregnant wife and daughter and recreated the frame.

The green walls, the carved furniture, the way the light pours through the windows. Jason matched the composition and guided the mood until the present aligned with the past. After finishing the image in post, he created not just an homage to the original postcard but a keepsake for his own family.

It is a story about memory, lineage, and stepping inside the images that move us. A simple postcard became an invitation to create something lasting.
